Prickly Proposition by gwrhino Prickly Proposition by gwrhino
..and they called it puppy love, just because we're in our teens....(ooops, note to self: quit typing with the headphones on)

I was out in the Superstitions once and a tourist had bared his arm and was inching closer and closer to a cholla to see how close he had to get before it jumped onto his arm. jumping cholla, you know.

I walked over and told him, "better be careful; get too close and about 7 of them will come flying at you all at once, and for some reason, they know to go for the eyes...." . His girlfriend shrieked, grabbed his arm and hauled him away. True story. I was amused.

Oh yeah - happened to a friend of mine as well, but he was lucky. It stuck to his shoe. We were out near Saguaro Lake.

In contrast with story, image looks very touristic.

*sigh* I've been away for quite a long time and you've been busy taking and uploading masterpieces again. I've already went through them, suffered from the usual jaw dislocation, stared at them some more and still couldn't find anything to write as a comment (how do you describe perfection?).
This is just a warning of the upcoming fav storm.
Thank you for the visual and mental trips!

justeline, very nice to hear from you. Your kind words are very much appreciated, especially considering the source (I've been to your gallery).

oh, and I consider Scribble Rocks to be one of the best things I ever even thought of shooting, so thanks...

I love the rich colors in this. It's funny you mention this story because the last time I was out in the superstitions my friend thought it would be a good idea to try and throw some of the fallen ends of the cholla at me and ended up with three chunks of cacti in his hand. Needless to say karma got the best of him. I just cannot get over that light.
