This is one my very fav all time for at least a few reasons

- it incorporates the warm /cold thing in this case, the scene is really white, so the last light of the day was pretty in pink, and what wasn't lit reflected the color of the sky, which was high pressure blue...

-compositionally, its all about space, and anyone that actually reads my drivel knows, space is my life, metaphorically speaking. (another shot of tequila sheila)

of course, the (sorry, I almost forgot) anomaly is how the fallen plate appears to be behind the thing its actually in front of. now that I say it out loud, it seems less anomalous than lame. oh well..

Yes, nice colors and texture with good depth. My eye wants to see a little more of what's in the background (just out of sight, which isn't altogether "bad,") but perhaps you just couldn't get it all in the photo and accomplish the composition you were hoping for. For me a bit surrounding puts the photo more "in context." Or maybe the background was not so good. At any rate, very unusual formation and probably worthy of more pictures in different types of light if you can get back to it easily enough.

Love it, but not sure what you mean about the plate anomaly thing... I'll keep staring at it for a while...

I believe the fallen plate is the flat stone close to the bottom right of the composition catching the pink light. Although I am not sure what its front of. To me it looks to be behind the stone donning a cooler hue in the very bottom right.

George you are simply the man when it comes to spatial relationships and composition. Ian Plant is one of my other favorite landscapers and I believe much of that has to do with that fact that you were his mentor. I can see your inspiration shine through in his images.

Yeah that was all I could figure. Just can't see how it's actually in front of anything. Heh. Oh well. You're right about Ian Plant though man, I completely agree

It's really interesting to see artists who I think are already outstanding to get even better. Makes me hopeful for my future to be 1/64 of what they are.
