"Superstition Sunset" by gwrhino "Superstition Sunset" by gwrhino
If I have a (previuously described) love hate relationship with the Grand Canyon, my relationship with the Superstitions is that of a divorce gone UGLY.

Make no mistake, the Superstition Mountains are the single most beautiful desert mountains smack in the middle of the lushest desert in the world. Incomparable beauty.

OK. Incomparable beauty, lush desert....what could screw up this paradise? You got it. Man. The crush of houses slowly strangling this place over time is just too depressing to watch.

This is so gorgeous! The lighting on this is absolutely phenomenal! So warm and soft. I love the trees in the foreground, the texture is amazing and they totally add to that warm and fuzzy feeling. :)

Development really does tend to ruin some of the best places. =( Gorgeous photo though! Love the red cast on the cholla.

One of my favorite mountain ranges. They were the view from our backyard when I was a teen in Scottsdale. They have such a rugged majesty.

That is just unbelievable. What great texture and light. You either have birds or birds that look like dust in the sky btw. The silhouette of the saguaro at the 'end' of the photo is a great touch.
