"Teton Summer" by gwrhino "Teton Summer" by gwrhino
...I showed up early, before anyone else and set up two cameras on tripods. My 4X5 and a 6X7. Before the sunrise there were at least another 7 tripod,s all with 4X5's. Everyone has set up the shot on the view camera, so when the sky went off none of the other guys moved. They knew they couldn't change the lens and shoot in time.

I was going nuts with the 6X7.

hehe thanks for the reply artist !

i thought was digital and got curious asking on filtration.

velvia still performs awesome !

do you take any digital pics to judge exposure faster for film or do you use spot metering during a shot ?

Lemnos, I've been shooting digital for a while now. I get 67 quality in a 35mm...

Awesome shot though I have to agree with Aaron about the composition.

That highlight is quite harsh too. Couldn't you have used a stop or two extra grad? but then the reflection would be brighter I see...

Web res is so hard to judge anyway. I'm sure this would look awesome in print. Velvia?

That yellow cloud underneath the others looks like an angle.

I understand the "going nuts" aspect. For some reason the comp doesnt sit right with me. Seems that the left side is extraneous...well, I think it is the lack of detail that creates a black hole of sorts in the tree line there. Great color and sky but not as high up there as some of your others

actually, I have no disagreement with that comment. In a perfect world I would have readjusted a little. Too many tripods at that time. That being said, the image has been very successful for me.

Funny how that works with regards to sale-ability and complete technical merit. Once again proving the point that photographers dont shoot for photographers (to make money). As for the other tripods...need to visit less tripody places ;)

Oxbow Bend? My timing as such hasn't been good enough to coincide w/the lupines, however the autumn colors can be rather amazing. I have a feeling that regardless of the season, the place is magical. My favorite of all the National Parks :camera:
