....the delicate balance of nature....as seen in "The Roadkill Portfolios"™

the whole shooting thing in a nutshell....

rain, umbrella, one-handed 4X5 with 450mm F12.5 and 6X9 roll film back, velvia, not much light, lotsa wind, 20 inch bellows extension, 8 second exposures, 10 rolls of 120, 100 exposures, 2 usable frames, water between ground glass and fresnel consequently can't see anything, spot meter dies foreever from water short in the middle....

(hmmm, thought this roadkill thing was supposed to be easy)

i love the soft, pastel colors in this image. Even the background is so easy on colors, that the foreground shows clearly, even though they are very light!

Nice work!

I remember seeing the vertical frame of it (I suppose this is the second usable frame of the scene) in the Ultimate Guide to Digital nature photography and it was an image that stayed with me. Considering that strong memory is not my strong point, the fact that this image managed to stay there means that it made a huge impression on me!
Loved your description, hard to guess that you went through a kind of hell to capture an image of paradise!
